AMD’s ODM Barebones SFF Solutions
ODM SFF Barebones Solutions

AMD’s ODM Barebones SFF Solutions

In the desktop market there are certain entities -- such as schools, government agencies, small businesses, retail point-of-sale, home users, etc. -- that either prefer or require small form factor (SFF) desktop computer solutions. SFF systems have these important features:

  • Smaller - typically 13 liters or less - to free up desk space
  • Standardized - limited configuration options - simplifying support and satisfying consistency & stability requirements
  • Quieter - suitable for large offices and classrooms where dozens or even hundreds of systems might be in use at once

Most System Integrators have not been able to offer SFF systems because of a lack of available components and because of higher development costs. Now, AMD is changing the game.

AMD and certain ODMs are working together to provide System Integrators access to off-the-shelf, flexible, stable and scaleable barebones SFF system solutions. These SFF systems are designed to be fully compatible with the latest AMD desktop processors and selected platform and chassis designs and will be evaluated in AMD's validation labs, thus enabling System Integrators to provide a superior experience for the end user.

Off-the-Shelf
AMD understands that in today's fast paced world, System Integrators need a variety of available solutions that can be easily configured to meet quick time-to-market opportunities. By evaluating standard ODM SFF barebones configurations using AMD's validation process, AMD is working with System Integrators to enable them to move quickly to seize those opportunities.

Flexible
With multiple SFF barebones solutions being evaluated by AMD, System Integrators are able to select the system configurations that best meet their needs, whether based on features, size, orientation, or vendor selection.

Stable
Each SFF barebones solution is based upon a standard configuration, with well-defined components and options, and is capable of satisfying the needs of most accounts, whether for retail, government, office, or home-use applications.

Scaleable
AMD's Socket A architecture enables multiple groups with different processor requirements to use a common hardware platform. Systems can be provided at a set performance and feature level, and can later be enhanced with faster processors, additional memory, and supplemental features through the use of add-in PCI cards, etc.

If you have additional questions about SFF solutions, contact your local AMD representative.
