Q:Who provides the warranty?
A:AMD provides a three (3) year limited warranty on its line of boxed processors.


Q:Who do I contact to obtain warranty service?
A:To obtain warranty service for your AMD processor, contact your computer system manufacturer, distributor or reseller during the system's warranty period. For technical support after your computer system warranty has expired, you should contact AMD at: (408) 749-3060 in the U.S. only; in Asia, Asia.support@amd.com; and in Europe +44 (0) 1276-803187


Q:What information should I have available when I contact AMD?
A:Be prepared to provide the following information:
1. Your name, address, and telephone number; 2. Your proof of purchase (including place and date of product purchase). You will be asked to fax or e-mail this verification to AMD; 3. Description of the type of processor you have (AMD Athlon™ 64 processor, AMD Athlon 64 FX processor, AMD Athlon XP processor, AMD Opteron™ processor, or AMD Athlon MP processor); 4. Confirmation that the product about which you are inquiring is an AMD boxed processor (PIB or PIB Without Fan). If you have a non-boxed product, click here; 5. The serial number located on the fan or a description of the computer system including the brand and model; and 6. an explanation of the problem.

The Technical Support Center Representative may need additional information from you depending on the nature of the problem



Q:What is the length of the warranty period?
A:AMD offers a three (3) year limited warranty to purchasers of AMD boxed processors.

Q:Do I need to activate or register my warranty?
A:No. A valid proof of purchase of the AMD PIB/AMD PIB without Fan is required. In addition, you may be asked to provide items for verification. Please see the answer to "What information should I have available when I contact AMD?"


Q:The warranty I obtained from my reseller has expired. Does AMD provide a warranty period for the AMD PIB/AMD PIB without Fan?
A:Yes. You can contact AMD after your warranty period has expired from your original supplier, up to three (3) years from the date of purchase.


Q:What is the difference between AMD Opteron™ PIB and AMD Opteron™ PIB Without Fan?
A:The only difference between the two products is the heatsink/fan is not included in the AMD Opteron™ PIB Without Fan.
